Russell R. Wasendorf, Sr., is chairman and CEO of PFGBEST.com, one of the largest U.S. non–clearing futures brokerage firms. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, he invested in technological capabilities to create one of the futures industry's first platforms for electronic trading. PFGBEST.com BEST Direct online trading system was the first to make a direct connection for personal traders into the CME's Globex in 1998.

Russell R. Wasendorf, Sr. In addition to PFGBEST.com operations employing professionals in offices around the world, he heads Wasendorf & Associates, Inc., a Cedar Falls, Iowa research firm specializing in managed futures investments, as well as publishing books for trader education through W&A Publishing.

Mr. Wasendorf is a noted writer and educator, having written six books about futures and commodities trading. These include: Commodity Trading: The Essential Primer (Dow Jones–Irwin, 1985); All About Futures From The Inside Out (Probus Publishing Company, 1992); All About Commodities From The Inside Out (Probus Publishing Company, 1992); All About Options From The Inside Out (Probus Publishing Company, 1993); All About Managed Futures From The Inside Out (Probus Publishing Company, 1993); and The Complete Guide To Single Stock Futures, (McGraw–Hill, 2003).

In 2001, Mr. Wasendorf founded SFO (Stocks, Futures and Options, The Official Advocate For Personal Investors.) Since its inception, SFO magazine has become the most widely–distributed monthly publication specializing in these investments.

Mr. Wasendorf is widely recognized as an industry expert in the areas of risk management, stock and futures hybrid products such as E–mini contracts and single stock futures, alternative investments, electronic trading, managed futures and investment education. He serves on the Advisory Committee of the National Futures Association (NFA).

In addition to PFGBEST.com, SFO, Wasendorf & Associates and W&A Publishing, Mr. Wasendorf is a partner in a real estate investment company headquartered in Romania, and has designed a fine dining restaurant located in Cedar Falls. He began his career as director of public affairs for the American Soybean Association and is a photographer and cinematographer.

His philanthropic endeavors are channeled through the Peregrine Charities, a private 501(c)(3) foundation that he founded in 2004. Its mission is to support medical research for rare pediatric diseases and provide assistance with children's hospitalization and medical treatments. The mission was recently expanded to include formation of partnerships with local and regional health care facilities to help children in need. He also is on the board of The Peregrine Fund, located in Boise, Idaho, a non–political, solution–oriented, science–based organization working worldwide to conserve wild populations of birds of prey.
