Sam Butler

Sam Butler is the winner of the 2nd quarter of the 2008 challenge. Mr. Butler is the winner of two previous quarters, 1st quarter of 2006 and the 4th quarter of 2007.

Mr. Butler is the President of Steadfast Resource Associates.

SRA's trading strategy utilizes two main proprietary algorithms developed by Mr. Butler to determine short-term market direction and volatility. SRA's first approach analyzes 60 separate data points on the underlying commodity as well as on volatility to determine short-term market direction. Our second approach is a determination of short-term volatility based off of the standard Gaussian model. SRA uses these two proprietary methods to implement a short-term opportunistic trading approach primarily on S&P 500 options. Trades are only placed when SRA determines the risk reward scenario to be shifted in our favor.
